Zork I was the first computer game I really enjoyed playing and
for those who might have missed out on computing in the 1980's I created
a web interface to the games and mirrored the best article
on its history that I could find.
Follow the links below to play Zork online. With these web versions
you can play Zork with the walk-through or a map right beside the game,
As of April, 2007 you can have Zork right on your Google Homepage,
just click one of the 'Add to Google' links above.
Here are some fun facts about Zork:
- The term 'Zork' was orginally jargon for an unfinished program
- Zork stems from a PDP-11 game called Dungeon which was inspired
by a PDP-10 game called Adventure
- Zork was orignally written in a language called MUDDLE and it
was later ported to Fortran and then C
- Now you can
download the original PC versions of Zork for free (and I payed
$45 ~ $70 bucks each for them when they were new *arrgh!)
